Science, Medicine & Engineering Dr Emeka Okaro

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

One of the most sought after gynaecologists in the country,
Dr Okaro is Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at
Barts Health, the largest NHS Trust in the UK.
His private practice is based at the Hospital of St John and
Elizabeth in London, where his patients include some of the
world’s leading businesswomen, senior government officials
and celebrities.
From 2011 to 2013 he was also Divisional Director of Acute
and Family Division where he managed a £150 million
budget. He is a leading specialist in gynaecological
ultrasound and is a certified diagnostic and therapeutic
Colposcopist and a Royal College of Obstetricians and
Gynaecologists accredited Minimal Access Surgeon.
Dr Okaro lectures regularly at national and international
conferences on the use of ultrasound in the management of
common gynaecological problems. He has also published
many research papers in respected medical journals and
medical books.
In addition he actively encourages and supports students
from BME backgrounds, organising work attachments and
clinical experience.

David Waboso
Managing Director, Digital Railway,
Network Rail

An internationally renowned engineer and project manager,
David was poached in 2016 by Network Rail to become its
new managing director of Digital Railway.
He was previously Capital Programmes Director at
London Underground, where he worked for 11 years
and led the £1.5 billion annual Tube Upgrade
Programme.
At Network Rail he has responsibility for projects
including boosting the use of digital signalling and
train control technologies through the Digital Railway
Programme. The challenge is working out a strategy to
provide the capacity needed for the future. Passenger
numbers have doubled over the past 20 years and are set to
double again over a similar period.
David has worked on infrastructure and train control
projects for more than 30 years and has previously held
senior positions at the Strategic Rail Authority, The Nichols
Group and Bechtel Corporation.
He is President of the Association for Project
Management as well as being a Chartered Engineer, and
a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the
Institution of Railway Signal Engineers and the Institution
of Civil Engineers.
