Chapter 2

Charles Gets Serious With God

As Charles knelt beside Lettie’s bed and prayed, he knew he
was not as close to God as he should be. However, God heard
his prayer, and He healed Lettie!

Charles and Lettie loved being married. They enjoyed living
in the city, especially because they could attend the opera. At
the same time, they felt guilty that God did not have first place
in their hearts. They chose to attend various types of
entertainment instead of church. Charles had made a promise
to follow and serve God with all his heart. But he had not taken
that promise seriously.
One night, a friend invited them to a church service where a
Christian opera singer was going to speak and sing. Lettie
loved music, so she went. At the service, the woman sang
about the lost sheep. Her song shared how God loves every
person so much and how He searches for everyone who is lost
until He finds them.
