ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

         & COMMUNITY IMPACT

         Bank On Tallahassee
Established in 2022, Bank On Tallahassee helps connect consumers to safe and affordable
banking products certified as meeting the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund’s
Bank On National Account Standards. With assistance from the CFE Fund, the Capital City
Chamber of Commerce, Leon County Government, and the City of Tallahassee Human
Services Division formed a Bank On working group in mid-2022 to identify strategies to
increase collaborative efforts that could connect consumers and businesses to
mainstream financial services and products. Members represent community-based
organizations, financial institutions, and local government agencies that provide
services, resources, and other financial empowerment programming such as financial
education, credit counseling, employment assistance, and youth engagement. Coalition
members meet regularly to identify points of collaboration, and community engagement
opportunities, share best practices, and develop innovative ideas.

         Financial Inclusion Month
As a part of its ongoing efforts to promote affordable banking products and services for underserved
residentsand businesses, the Capital City Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Bank On Coalition,
coordinated a series of community events to celebrate Financial Inclusion Month. Financial Inclusion Month is
celebrated throughout the financial and banking community in the United States as a means of promoting the
ongoing work in actualizing the vision of more equitable and inclusive economic ecosystems at the national and
local levels. Throughout October 2023, CCC hosted a series of events to promote financial enrichment for all and
provide information on innovative strategies for wealth-building, wealth management, and the resources of local
financial institutions to uncover the impact of inclusivity in our local financial landscape.

         Business Tax Clinic
Capital City Chamber of Commerce’s Business Tax Clinic helped our members and local small businesses
optimize their tax strategies and financial readiness. This special clinic was designed to ensure businesses are
well-prepared to make the most of tax-saving opportunities.

SmartSteps Workshops with FAMU Credit Union
The SmartSteps program is a part of the Capital City Chamber of Commerce’s
Business Empowerment Department, which promotes the empowerment and
continuing education of entrepreneurs and small business leaders. The Business
Empowerment Department leads efforts to bridge the knowledge and resource gap
between its members and the minority business community. This year, the Capital
City Chamber of Commerce hosted workshops throughout the year that educated
attendees on a variety of essential entrepreneurial strategies and resources.
