Jail Operations
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division utilizes an investigator to monitor the criminal
behavior and phone calls of inmates.
There were 110 Inmate Jail Offenses that included Class A and B Felonies and various misdemeanors. This
includes accused domestic violence offenders contacting their victims but not limited to assault on an officer.
In 2019, 15,141 recorded inmate calls were provided to outside law enforcement agencies aiding in the pros-
ecution of critical crimes. These calls were provided to many agencies within the State of Maine, State of
New Hampshire, and the Federal Government.

Class A - Murder, manslaughter, rape, arson, kidnapping, gross sexual assault on a minor.
Class B - Theft over $10,000, aggravated assault, larceny, stalking, embezzlement, drugs with the intent to sell. 15.
Class C - Drug crimes, robbery, perjury, forgery, terrorizing, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon.
Class D - Escaping, custody, making threats, assaults, lesser degree drug crimes.
