“To Jesus through Mary!” every
Child of Mary utters. This Year
the whole Children of Mary-
Vincentian Marian Youth (CoM-
VMY) Philippines celebrate its
150th year of existence. Various
activities were prepared for this
momentous occasion which
were actively participated by
the youthful seminarians of St.
Vincent Seminary:
a. Joined the Marian
Conference with Rev. Fr. Teodoro
Barquin, CM at the La Concordia
College, Manila last August 25,
2018.
b. Last November 8, 2018, in
a solemn reception, St. Vincent
Seminary Unit receives 11 new
CoM-VMY Senior Aspirants;
they are the Orientation Year 1
and 2 in the Seminary Formation.
Thus a newly organized COM
Unit under the NCR.

c. Facilitated the Creative
prayer stations during the NCR
Recollection and Reception at
the National Shrine of the Our
Lady of the Miraculous Medal in
Sucat, Paranaque last November
10, 2018.
d. Shared the joy with the
whole COM family in thanking
God for the 150 years of grace-
filled mission and counting at the
Manila Cathedral last November
18, 2018. Together with the
International President and Sub
director general.
e. And in living out the
spirit of a CoMer in serving the
young, on Saturdays and Sundays
visiting the parish’ Kawans to give
catechesis.

Seminary Unit strives hard in
building a community where the
two-fold aims of the association
is fostered: To honor Mary (Self
Sanctification) and to let others
honor her (Sanctification of
others). Since time memorial, this
Marian association, which was
requested by the Blessed Mother
herself through Sr. Catherine
Laboure, DC, is nourished by the
outpouring graces of God and still
goes forth in serving others living
up to the legacy and charism of
St. Vincent de Paul. Hence, these
Aspirants of SVS are examples
of a Child of Mary in living and
sharing one’s life to others.
In Saint Luke 4:18, the
fundamental text for Vincent
de Paul, Jesus affirmed at the
beginning of his public ministry
the following: The Spirit of the
Lord is upon me, because he has
anointed me to bring glad tidings
to the poor. For this reason, Luke
also presented the Holy Spirit as
tongues of fire on the Apostles
during the Pentecost (Acts 2: 3-4).
The Spirit is the divine reality
that comes from God. In Jesus, the
Holy Spirit comes to empower his
mission. It is the power to preach
the Gospel of the Messiah.
In 2017, We celebrated the 400th
anniversary of the Vincentian
charism. That was a time of
renewal and grace. In 1617 was the
year in which Vincent inspired
the Holy Spirit and obeyed the
Holy Spirit in order to make a
radical change in his life.It was
the same Spirit which inspired
the Apostles to begin the public
mission of evangelization on
Pentecost. The Holy Spirit made
the apostles became courageous
to proclaim the Gospel to every
nation.
Vincent himself lived with a
new fervor after that first sermon
