                 2.4.2 The Intention to pass on Chinese religious identity


                 Another key reason that has caused respondents to hold on to their TCR is the urge to pass
                 on their family’s religion. In other words, professing TCR is seen as an obligation to conserve

                 their family’s tradition. As shown in Figure 2.8, almost half of the respondents agreed that
                 they should pass on their family religion. Another 23.12 percent of the respondents thought

                 passing on their family religions would probably be important. Only 23.12 percent of them did
                 not think so. Again, these findings revealed the fact that the majority of the respondents are
                 merely holding on to their religion because they see it as a form of obligation and not a form

                 of religious conviction.
