5. Construction site lifts (Alimak type)
1. Lifts must be:
- installed by the supplier or a competent
- certified by a third party
- supervised by the supplier or regularly checked according to the supplier’s instructions
- able to be operated manually in case of a power failure
- big enough for a stretcher
- able to be operated from the ground in case of an emergency
- equipped with parachute breaking
- equipped with instructions and emergency procedure plate
- have a label with the SWL/max persons
2. Operators must be trained on how to use lifts.
3. Landing decks must be safe even when the lift is not present.
4. A construction site lift must be installed when persons are regularly moving from top to bottom, bottom to top or when the height is more than 25 metres.
5. An escape route must be clearly defined if the construction site lift is out of order.
