Lesson 34
The swan has long been regarded as a very special bird
in English culture. You can see from the photo the
swan is a very large bird and spends its life on the
water.
In fact it is one of the largest birds in Britain, it's
bodyweight is definitely much bigger than any other
bird.
It is actually quite rare to see a swan flying, it requires
a huge amount of effort to get airborne. So the Swan
spends almost all of its life on the water. If it lands on
water that is too narrow it will be trapped there for
life as it can only take off from water.
