To whom does this pen belong?

        To whom am I speaking?

To whom should I write a letter?

For whom the bell tolls. (This is the title of a book by
        Ernest Hemingway).

There is also a golden rule in written English, never

end a sentence with a preposition. It often happens in
spoken English, but you should avoid this practice in

written English. Here is an example,

        Who owns this?

'This' is a preposition; although this sentence is quite

normal in spoken English. In written English you would
        name the item, for example,

        Who owns this dog?

                          This completes Lesson 37
