Professor Usisipho Feleni awarded the University of
Michigan Presidential Scholars Fellowship 2021/2022
which enabled to go on an academic research visit at the
University of Michigan in the United States of America
Dumisani Mlotshwa, PhD student from the Department
of Physics, was awarded a Global Minds Scholarship to pursue
part of his doctoral studies at Ghent University in Belgium in
his quest to produce cheaper solar light bulbs. He is on a
joint PhD programme between UNISA and Ghent University.
Simphiwe Zwane, PhD student from the Institute for
Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability (iNanoWS), was
awarded Fulbright Foreign Student Program, which enabled
her to conduct part of her research at MSU's Department of
Chemistry between August 2021 and May 2022. A
dedicated and hard-working postgraduate student, whose
work resulted in three publications.
Masedi Masekane, PhD student from department of Physics
is following an exciting PhD journey jointly supervised by Unisa
and the University of Zagreb, the largest university in Croatia and
one of the oldest in Europe. One of the outcomes of his research
will be a ground-breaking materials analysis system, the rst of
its kind in Africa. The International Atomic Energy Agency
(IAEA) recently awarded him a prestigious PhD Sandwich
Fellowship lasting for the remaining duration of his doctoral
degree.
