Delvah Mathevula
In September 2020, Delvah Mathevula was interviewed on
Munghana Lonene FM. He discussed the impact of the fast-growing
technology on the development of Xitsonga. He also indicated that
as language practitioners they are working around the clock to
ensure that their languages are not left behind. Earlier in that same
month, Dr Najadi Letsoalo was interviewed on Thobela FM
regarding the use of language to preserve culture and heritage. The
interview revolved around the I-SET Robotics project and the
initiative for robotics to be taught in Sepedi. Dr Patricia Gouws was
interviewed by the Sunday Times on engaging with communities
regarding robotics in Covid times.

The team is excited about this indigenous robotics journey. There is
still a long way to go to include all eleven languages and sign

Marketing Initiatives: Open Days, Expos and Exhibitions, Social Media Media Campaigns
CSET Marketing team partcipated at the Scifest Africa, 7-13 September where their marketed college
programmes (high school and adult individuals that attneded the sciemnce festiaal), created science and
engineering awareness to primary schools in atatndence, and provided live science demonstrations. The
science demisbtartors from the college that accompanied the marfketing team:
• iNanoWS table displayed advanced water treatment technologies using membranes. Polymeric
membranes were fabricated in front of our spectators and immediately used to treat water polluted
with dyes. The learners were fascinated when seeing clean water as treated by our system. Explanation
was given on the use of membranes to treat sea water and wastewater, separation of oils from water
as well as gas separation. We also displayed hollow bre membranes together with ceramic
membranes which we fabricate and package into modules for large scale application. Finally, we
explained research in the eld of elextrochemistry, urban water cycle and water treatment,
nanostructured materials and analytical chemistry.
• USEC's exhibition table displayed a number of exciting robotics models that demonstrated the
importance of automation and computation. There were also opportunities for learners and keen
members of the community to engage in a number of hands-on robotics activities. On September 12,
2022 the team did an outreach to Nontsikelelo Albertina Sisulu science centre in Comvaba.
• Chemistry exhibition table was very engaging and eye opening on the fun side of science, specically
Chemistry. It showed learners and other audiences the application of chemistry in the kitchen or in our
households in terms of identifying acids and bases in our kitchens using a red cabbage. Learners found
the demonstrations entertaining and very practical where they could relate with topics that is being
