WINNERS
Each year AIA Connecticut celebrates the
accomplishments of Connecticut architects
and the excellence of Connecticut
architectural projects.
Three major categories are juried:
ARCHITECTURE: THE ENCOMPASSING
ART AWARDS: A special, inclusive award
that celebrates the multitude of design
aspects that underpin the overall building
design.
UNBUILT AWARDS: Unbuilt architectural
designs, for which there is no current intent
to build, of any project type, including
purely theoretical, visionary projects, with
or without a client.
BUILT AWARDS: Built Project categories
that recognize design excellence in various
kinds of built architectural projects -
Commercial, Institutional, Educational,
or Multi-family, Interior Architecture,
Preservation, Restoration, Adaptation, and
Residential Design.
The jurors, Celia Imrey, of Imrey Studio
Planning & Design, New York, NY, Robert
Gurney, FAIA, of Robert Gurney Architect,
Washington, DC and Stephen White, AIA,
Dean and Professor at Roger Williams
University, School of Architecture, Art and
Historic Preservation, Bristol, RI were quite
impressed with the projects submitted. The
jurors applied their practical, critical, and
award-winning experience to determine
which projects represent design excellence.
To that end, 26 projects of the 137
submissions stood out as the most notable.
