Features of a good data warehousing system

 Restore data that may come in formats such as SQL, SAS, MS access etc
 Provide flexibility to the user to access data from different location
 Perform basic and advanced data validation
 Capture and store data in a standard format
 Archive historical data and keep periodical backups
 Provide flexibility to the user to generate reports
 Keep user interface easy to write navigate to that it may be used by non-technical

    persons

Collection and collection of data

 Data compilation, storage and analysis have got a boost with the introduction of
    TPAs

 TPAs have emerged as the custodian of enrolment and claims data for their clients
 TPAs usually store the data in ready-made available software for such purposes.
 The data collected by TPAs may have significant variations in terms of quality and

    consistency.
 Earlier TAC was acting as the data repository since the year 2004. TAC published

    health insurance data reporting manual which contains detailed instructions on
    acceptable data structures.
 In 2009, IRDA created Insurance Information Bureau(IIB) to act as a data repository.
 Now all the data relating to Indian insurance industry is handled by Insurance
    Information Bureau.
 IRDA has made it mandatory for all the insurers to submit the information to the
    bureau in the specified formats within the time limits as fixed by IRDA.
