Texas Classic Juvenile
HES INNOCENT
by Tracy Gantz
Hes Innocent ran his record to four wins and
a third in five starts with his victory in the $54,274 Texas Classic Juvenile at Lone Star Park on
Nov. 28. The versatile 2-year-old colt now has two wins on a fast track, one on a muddy track, and one on a sealed sloppy track.
The fast-track wins came in a maiden race and the Firecracker Futurity-G2, both at Delta Downs. Hes Innocent won his Firecracker trial on a muddy track and the Texas Classic Juvenile in the slop.
The track condition didn’t bother the colt, who broke well for jockey Manuel Gutierrez at Lone Star. Hes Innocent motored down the stretch, vying for the lead and gamely grabbing the head victory at the wire. His time for 400 yards was :19.812, posting a 93 speed index.
Martin Trejo trains Hes Innocent for owner Priscilla Rodriguez. Debbie Strebig bred the colt in Oklahoma from winner End Of Innocence. The mare has produced four starters, all winners. The second dam is graded stakes-placed Mito Suzy.
Paragon Farms LLC’s homebred Favorite Agree (Favorite Cartel-Eye Agree) finished second under Tanner Thedford for trainer Blane Wood. Favorite Agree broke his maiden at Lone Star in September.
Francisco Calderon rode Jess Adamant (Freighttrain B-Perryphery) to third for owners Sylvia Shaw Pitman and E. H. Pitman Jr. and trainer Juan Vazquez. Jess Adamant in seven previous starts won once, ran second once, and ran third twice.
Completing the field were Jess Is The Boss (Apollitical Jess-Bosanova Baby), OJD Chavela J (Valiant Hero-One Prompt JJ), Caliente Caramelo (Jess Good Candy-Pandorum), Greysland (Kiss My Hocks-Grey Daze), Shifting Ground (Maknmoves- Goddess Artemis), Mylestone (Freighttrain B-All About Perri) and Jess A Candy Legacy (Jess Good Candy-Desert Passage).
Battle Of The Breeds Stakes
GONE TO BE PRINCESS
by Danny Camp
Gone To Be Princess was wearing the crown after the running of the $54,890 Lone Star Battle Of The Breeds on Nov. 28.
It was an 870-yard stakes for the fastest qualifiers that carried a total purse worth $54,890. Gone To Be Princess won her trial heat by 2 1/4-lengths. In the finals, the track was sloppy and sealed with a cross- wind. Gone To Be Princess broke like a shot from the far outside under Alejandro Medina. It wasn’t long before she eased down towards the rail to settle in two wide. Mid-stretch they had a short lead, but there was no doubt as to the outcome. At the wire, they finished 3/4-lengths to the good. The mare stopped the clock in :46.386 to earn a 90 speed index.
The filly also earned the first place check worth $32,934, which ups her lifetime earnings to $85,023 and her race record is now 43-8(1)-8-8. She has won her last two in a row for owner Clyde Woerner and trainer Bradley Bolen.
Woerner bred Gone To Be Princess out of win- ner Lindys Streakin Star. The mare has produced 100% money earners from four starters. Gone To Be Princess is her first stakes winner.
Santa Juana Power (Mr Oklahoma Express- Powerofataka TB) had the rail under Luis Vicanco and fought the good fight, but was clearly second best on this day. The filly runs for owner Jaime Martinez and trainer Jose Carrizales. Jack Ketel (Ketel Won-Sheza Moon Bar Baby) banked the third place check for owner Diamond L Racing. The Arnold Lewis trainee had Bobby Dow in the irons.
Expect Royal TB (Littlexpectations-
Royal Colonial), Eye Know The Secret (Lookinforthesecret-Eye Am A Corona), Aces Over Five (Five Demon Bag TB-Achieve A Link), Beta Capo Song TB (Beta Capo-Unforgetable Song) and Cat Daddie (Dominyun-Fee Lion) completed the order of finish.
Paragon Oaks
JESSIE MARIE
by John Moorehouse
Jessie Marie joined the club of multiple stakes winners, driving to a 3/4-length victory in the $25,000 Paragon Oaks at Lone Star Park on Nov. 28. After breaking well from the 4-post, she moved into the front by a head at the first call and main- tained that narrow margin going into the stretch. Jessies Marie pulled away late, finishing the 400- yard race in :19.657 for a 97 speed index.
Oscar Nunez trains Jessie Marie, who was ridden by Froylan Ramirez and produced a $14,500 payday for her connections, improving her total bankroll to $159,901.
Palomino Trucking Inc. owns Jessie Marie, a six-year-old mare who notched her 10th overall win in 31 career starts. Her inaugural stakes victory came last year in the Easy Date Stakes at Remington Park. This marked her first win in seven outs in 2020, and her third stakes race of the year.
Dolores Hill bred Jessie Marie out of winner Traffic Wagon, who placed third in the Oklahoma Futurity-G2. She has produced 100% money earners from five starters. Jessie Marie is her first stakes winner.
