Easy Date Stakes-RG3
PJ SPLASH OF JOY
by Michael Compton
PJ Splash Of Joy jumped into the deep end for the first start of her 2020 campaign, testing stakes company for owner Valeriano Racing Stables LLC and
trainer Monty Arrossa. If her win in the $54,200 Easy Date Stakes-RG3 at Remington Park on April 18 is any indication, the filly could be in for quite a season.
Ridden by Ricky Ramirez, PJ Splash Of Joy raced toward the back of the field in 9th early in the 350- yard test. She exploded in the lane, hitting the front close to home and drawing away for a 1-length score. Finishing in her wake were runner-up Splendid Cause, ridden by Raul Valenzuela, and 3rd-place finisher Americas Dynasty, with James Flores aboard.
In securing the first stakes win of her career, PJ Splash Of Joy stopped the timer in :17.556, for an 89 speed index over the fast track. The win improved her record to 13-4(1)-1-1 and increased her bankroll to $133,412. The filly also was a finalist in the Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and First Down Dash Stakes.
Fredda Draper bred PJ Splash Of Joy out of multiple stakes winner Jenuine Joy. She has produced 100% money earners from 11 starters, including top earner 2-time Champion Imperial Eagle. PJ Splash Of Joy is her fourth stakes winner.

The latest, which had a $48,500 purse, took place as part of the April 18 card at Remington Park.
