New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity-RG3
JETTING THRU CLOUDS

SunRay Park hosted the richest race in its history when it conducted the $253,689 New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity on May 20. Fittingly, it was a dramatic result, with 20-1 Jetting Thru Clouds upsetting the field. When the 10 two-year-olds lined up for the Futurity, Jetting Thru Clouds wasn’t given much chance by bettors, going off as the seventh choice.
Fastest-qualifier Eye Am On It went off
as the 2-1 favorite. Eye Am On It and Jetting Thru Clouds were two of the five fillies that made up half of the field of New Mexico-breds.
Edgar Martinez piloted Jetting Thru Clouds, who veered in slightly at the start, getting the fifth call from the four-hole. Martinez quickly straightened out the black filly, and she grabbed the lead at the first call to hold off the others by 1/2-length at the wire of the 350-yard contest. Jetting Thru Clouds stopped the timer in :17.630 for a speed index of 93.
