Raced exclusively in New Mexico, Freedom Flash has won seven of 29 starts,
and the $60,000 winner’s share of the Starr Western Wear Stakes increased his earnings to $417,301. The gelding has won three stakes, including the 2019 New Mexico Classic Derby-RG2 and last year’s $125,000 New Mexico Cup 870 Championship-RG3, both at Zia Park.
Dan The Flashman (First Moonflash- Domeinitchy) banked the $20,000 runner-up share of the purse for his owner, Victor
Diaz. Christian Ramos rode the 8-year-old gelding for trainer Lorenzo Vega. He has won eight races, including the 2019 Zia 870 Championship Stakes.
Carroll A. Durbin’s Why Buy The Cow (Heza Motor Scooter-Southwest Treasure) ran third, 3 1/2-lengths behind Freedom Flash. Ken Tohill rode the 8-year-old gelding for
trainer Kenneth Durbin. He has won seven races, including the 2021 King Rick Rack Stakes-G3and the 2019 New Mexico Classic Cup 870 Championship.
El Vital (Mr Special Cartel-WDC Vital Sound) ran fourth and was followed by
Rosies Bolt (Genuine Strawfly-Independent Princess), Hollywood Henry TB (Roll Hennessy Roll-Ringback), Noreason Fordiamonds (Rances Reason-Cartier N Capris), and Lifes A Dannce (Big Daddy Cartel-Racetrack Barbie).
