Rillito Derby
SOCIALLY AWKWARD

Socially Awkward, a gray daughter of the Separatist stallion Seperate Interest and the third-fastest qualifier, scored her first career stakes victory in the $28,000 Rillito Derby
at historic Rillito Park Racetrack in Tucson, Arizona on Feb. 26.
Racing on a muddy track while aided by a reported 15-mph tail wind, Socially Awkward covered 300 yards in :15.285, and her winning margin was a 1/2-length from One Fabulous Dog. Elias Gutierrez rode the gray filly for owner/trainer Alvaro Monteverde.
Campaigned exclusively in Arizona, Socially Awkward has won three of 10 races, and the $15,400 winner’s share of the Rillito Derby purse pushed her earnings to $26,711, of which $25,774 has been pocketed from four outs this season.
Socially Awkward was bred in California by the late Ronald J. Hartley, and she was purchased as a yearling by Monteverde for
