Race record: 5-2-2-0 • Day 2, Race #5 • Press Is My Hero finishes second to the fastest qualifier for the third fastest time to the finals
Press Is My Hero scored in his first out on April 17 at Remington Park, accelerating past his rivals for a 1-length victory in a maiden event. He next entered the gates for the Heritage Place Futurity trials, where he finished second and qualified to the Heritage Place Juvenile. In that race, he received the seventh call at the start after breaking in from the 2-hole. He improved his position and finished in fifth. Prior the All American Futurity trials, Press Is My Hero made one more start in an allowance race at Ruidoso Downs, a clear 1 1/2-length winner.
Press Is My Hero came out of the 4-hole in second place in his All American Futurity heat. He continued racing in second in the early stages of the race, briefly dropped to third nearing the wire, and then pushed forward to take second place behind the fastest quali- fier. The gelding holds the third fastest overall qualifying
time to the finals. Press Is My Hero is owned by Dunn Ranch, trained by Monty Arrossa and was ridden by Jesus Ayala. McColee Land & Livestock, LLC is the breeder of

EL PAINTED EAGLE si 97, $13,400
Race record: 4-2-0-1 • Day 2, Race #5 • El Painted Eagle finishes third in his heat and scores the fourth fastest qualifying time
El Painted Eagle gave a wire-to-wire performance in his first start on May 29 at Ruidoso Downs. It was in the Ruidoso Futurity trials and the gelding overcame a slight bobble at the break and held on for a 1/2-length victory. His time, however, was not fast enough to qualify to the main event. He then stepped into the gates for the Rainbow Futurity trials. He was out of the 6-hole well in second and drove to the wire to win by 3/4-lengths. This time, he qualified to the Rainbow Juvenile, where he was out of the 8-hole in fifth but was bumped hard at the break. He had some trouble and was running last but improved
to finish ninth.
In the Aug. 21 trials to the All American Futurity, El Painted Eagle once again encountered some trouble. He was out of the 6-hole in third and had the lead at the first call but drifted out early and settled for third place. His clocking, however, was good enough to make it to the finals with the fourth fastest overall qualifying time. El Painted Eagle is bred and owned by Jose Luis Ozuna and
trained by Heath Taylor. Jockey Rodrigo Vallejo has been aboard for all of his races.
