Woodys Gold started his career with a couple of close second-place finishes, just get- ting nosed out in the trial for the Mountain Top New Mexico Bred Futurity in his Ruidoso Downs unveiling. He was flying at the finish once again to just miss in that main event after getting carried out a bit in the lane.
He broke his maiden in his third start, taking his trial for the Zia Futurity by 2 1/4-lengths as the odds-on wagering choice. Another game effort saw him finish second in the Zia Futurity, beaten just a 1/2-length.
He then won his trial for the New Mexico State Fair Futurity with a facile score by 3/4-length on Aug. 28 for the fastest qualifying time, and has now strung together back-to- back wins.
Bred in New Mexico by MJ Farms, Woodys Gold was a $10,000 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred QH Yearling Sale graduate.
Woodys Gold is out of the Thoroughbred All About Gold. The Colorado-bred mare was a 3-time winner during her racing career, having notched victories at Turf Paradise and Arapahoe Park. She has produced one winner from two starters.

MJ Farms also bred and owns the runner-up, Fanncee (Big Daddy Cartel-Astica). Ridden by Alan Hernandez for trainer Wesley Giles, Fanncee chased the winner home and finished strongly to
edge Winner Takes It All by a neck to secure the place spot. The well-bred youngster is out of 2015 Champion 3-Year-Old Filly Astica.
Winner Takes It All (Winners Version-A Scootin Princess) closed ground late to finish a neck behind Fanccee in third place for owner David Vasquez and trainer Sergio Ibarra. The colt was bred in New Mexico by J & H/A & D Erickson. He broke his maiden in his first out in the trials to the Mountain Top Futurity, and was a finalist in the Mountain Top Juvenile earlier this year.
