Alberta Bred Derby
DOUBLE CRUISE

Asharp break from his rail post helped Double Cruise score a wire-to-wire victory in the $24,926 Alberta Bred Derby at Century Mile Racetrack in Edmonton, Canada, on Sept. 27.
Owned, bred and trained by Tom Kenway, Double Cruise was never headed, covering the 400 yards in :20.112 by a clear 1 3/4-lengths over Suits. Martin Ortiz rode the sorrel gelding, who earned a 101 speed index and the $11,217 winner’s share of the $24,926 purse.
Double Cruise recorded the second-fastest qualifying time with his second-place finish in the first of two trials on Sept. 13.
Raced exclusively in Alberta, Double Cruise has won three of 10 starts and has banked $42,759. He has won two stakes, including last year’s 300-yard $40,711 Alberta Stallion Futurity at Century Mile.
Kenway bred Double Cruise out of winner Eye Cruise. She has produced 100% winners from three starters. Double Cruise is her first stakes winner.
Suits (First Timber-Burners Beauty) earned second place money of $4,237 to bring his bankroll to $31,869 from 14 races for owner, breeder and trainer Wesley T. Oulton. J.B. Botello rode the homebred multiple graded stakes placed gelding.
Speedy Rae (Its All About Speed-Erica Rae) finished third, a nose behind Suits, for owners Jane Leech and Edward Vanee. Ricardo Moreno rode the gelding for trainer William Leech. The gelding was a finalist in the Alberta Stallion Stakes Derby this year.
Ivory Fame (Ivory League-RD Taras Fame), First Pulse (First Timber-Snowbound Star Lady), Poutn And Streakin (Its All About Speed- Poutnlori), Yuma Class (Three Ten To Yuma B-Class Acte), Timbergold (First Timber-Gilded Gold), and Tee For Teller (Teller Cartel-Feelin The Fever) completed the order of finish. Fastest quali- fier Quarter Sawn was scratched.
OHA Mystery Derby
DYNASTY CARTEL

Dynasty Cartel has hit his groove and has won his last four in a row. His latest win was in the $60,500 Oklahoma Horseman’s Association Mystery
Derby at Will Rogers Downs.
The gelding broke from the 10-post carrying
James Flores. The first part of the race didn’t look to optimistic. But, with a huge effort from both horse and rider, the team crossed the finish line a nose in front.
Trained by Fidencio Jimenez, Dynasty Cartel completed the 350 yards in :17.688 to earn a 93 speed index. The gelding earned the first place check worth $24,700 and he has now earned a total of $103,167 for owner Martin Gonzalez-Sanchez.
Flag Ranch LLC bred Dynasty Cartel out of Dash For Cash Futurity-G1 and Manor Downs Futurity-G1 winner A Snowy Cartel. She has produced 100% money earners from 15 starters. Dynasty Cartel is her first stakes winner.
Really First Down (First Down Dash-Really A Corona) came into the finals with the third fastest time. He was nodded out at the wire and settled for second for owner Dunn Ranch. The Monty Arross trainee had Juan Pulido handling the reins.
Fastest qualifier Cajun King (The Louisiana Cartel-Easydoesitcindy) finished in third place for owner Abel Flores and trainer Eddie D. Willis. Veteran Jimmy Brooks was in the irons. The gelding won last year’s Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Futurity-G3.
Shaw Island Senator (Louisiana Senator-Sea Island Dancer), Valiant Memorie (One Valiant Hero- Painted Memorie), Carson City Train (Freighttrain B-Miss Sound Dancer), Ew Train On Fire (Freighttrain B-DM Sashay N Fire), Ritas Back On Track (Freighttrain B-Perry Story), Relentless Gun (Hes Relentless-CF Smokin Gun) and Gold Diggers Avenger (Inseperable-Corona For Ashley) completed the order of finish.

JESS A SATIN FLASH

Jess A Satin Flash has won his last two races
in a row with his latest victory coming in the $75,000 First Moonflash Maturity at the Downs at Albuquerque on Sept. 6.
The gelding stepped away from the 5-post on
top and he received every subsequent call. Ridden
by Alejandro Medelin, Jess A Satin Flash dueled throughout the 440 yards, crossing the wire a neck
in front.
They stopped the timer in :21.282 to earn a 98 speed index. The gelding also earned the first-place check worth $45,000, which ups his total bankroll
to $229,572 for owner Bertha Irigoyen and trainer Rene Saucedo. Jess A Satin Flash has won 10 races, including the Zia Handicap-G2.
Mike Abraham bred Jess A Satin Flash out of All American Futurity-G1 finalist Jess Satin. She has produced 100% money earners from seven starters. Jess A Satin Flash is her second stakes winner and top earner.
Daddys Wine (Big Daddy Cartel-Fine Wines) finished second under Mauro Salcedo for owner
El Paraiso Racing Stables LLC and trainer Martin Orona. The gelding finished third in the Zia Handicap-G2 earlier this year. Marcus Medallion (Jesse James Jr-Houstons Medallion) and Jorge Bourdieu finished in third for owner/trainer
Jamie Aldavaz Sr. The gelding won last year’s First Moonflash Maturity.

Rosa B), Rime Chimes (Sign To Be A Runaway- Rime Has A Chick), Zendayas Cartel (Big Daddy Cartel-Real Dancing Dottie), Freedom Flash (First Moonflash-Mi Camila TB), HS Paul Walker (Osbaldo-Strawberryberryfast) and Woodys Copy Cat (Woodbridge-Fast Copy Miss) completed the order of finish. Big Spurs, RJ Special Chick and Siximoons were scratched.
