                 Rock Springs Wyoming Bred D.
BRASH AND SASSY
by Michael Compton
Brash And Sassy has every reason to be saucy. The 3-year-old filly made it consecutive derby wins with a facile score in the $39,260 Rock Springs Wyoming
Bred Derby at Sweetwater Downs on Sept. 5. Ridden by Oscar Cervantes, Brash And Sassy
jumped out on top at the start of the 350-yard dash and received every call. She dueled with Gotta Lotta Papa and jockey Jesus Valenzuela through the lane, shrugging off the bid of that one approaching the wire to score by a 1/2-length in the end.
Winner of the KC Carden Wyoming Bred Derby in her previous start, Brash And Sassy stopped the timer in :17.602 and earned a speed index of 95 in securing the win in her second straight derby for trainer Riley Moosman, who also sent out second placed Gotta Lotta Papa (Pappasito-Lotta Kat Moves), a stakes winner last year at two, for owners Ron and Kathy Moosman.
The $13,741 winner’s share of the purse increased Brash And Sassy’s bankroll to $43,084 for owner Dustin Stanger and improved her overall record to 11-7(2)-2-0.
Dan and Patricia Baker bred Brash And Sassy out of lightly raced LP Sure And Proud. She has produced two winners from three starters. Brash And Sassy is her first stakes winner.
UD Plain Jane (Coronado Cartel-Bvlgari B), denied a third straight win, finished third. Uriel Dominguez piloted the chestnut filly for owner/ trainer Uriel Dominguez Sr.
Reagal Eagle Revenge (Reagal Eagle-A Secret Life), La Pistola 03 (Pappasito-Dreaming Snow), Brindis Secretweapon (Brindis Por Cayenne- Secretly Illusive), Cathouse Affair (Jess My Moon-Cathouse Katie), Rays Lane (Conn Creek-A Dash Of Steffi), Frozen Cayenne (Brindis Por Cayenne-Ze Flaming Boogie), Buckeys Little Buck completed the order of finish.

EYESA SPECIAL HACHET
by Tracy Gantz
The Whipp family’s Broken Bones Cattle Company raises roping horses and racehorses in Lander, Wyoming. They stood deceased Eyesa Special Slim and had several runners by that stallion in the vari- ous divisions of the Sept. 19 Rock Springs-Wyoming Stallion Futurity at Sweetwater Downs. Eyesa Special Hachet, a gelded son of Eyesa Special Slim, won the first division for them.
Jockey David Jimenez partnered the gelding in the Stallion Futurity. They broke fourth and came on strong to hit the wire 3/4-lengths in front in :15.927 for 300 yards. Eyesa Special Hachet finished fourth in his only previous start, a July 12 futurity trial at Wyoming Downs.
Jessie Villegas trains Eyesa Special Hachet for Broken Bones, which bred the gelding in Wyoming from the Rolls Of Romance mare Streaking Ruby Red. Bred in partnership by Broken Bones and Ed Leslie, four-time winner Streaking Ruby Red is out of graded stakes winner Streaking Pretty. Streaking Ruby Red has produced three winners from six start- ers, including stakes-placed Sixs Streakin Apollo.
Cordarelton Benn rode VVR Letthe Arrowsfly (Whata Corona Runner-Snow Kool) to second for owner Carter Garfias and trainer Diana Garfias. In two previous starts, VVR Letthe Arrowsfly finished third once.
Tha Boss (Coronas Velvet-KC Striking Bac) ran third under jockey Jose Guzman for owner Mckinze Ortiz and trainer Martha Maldonado. The gelding was coming off a win in a maiden race.
Rounding out the field were Fiftys Delite (Fiftyshadezofgrey-RS Afternoon Delite), CD Little Wagon (CD Rockin Da Wagon-Little Celery Angel), Last Toast To David (Brindis Por Cayenne- Stolin Brew), Our Mystery (Our Dicey FFM- Unbridled Mystery) and Apolitical Pro (Dustin Pro-Apolitical Dream).
Rock Springs Wyoming Stallion F. #2
VVR CORONA COWBOY
by Tracy Gantz
VVR Corona Cowboy made his first victory a good one. He came away a stakes winner when he captured the second division of the $15,000 Rock Springs-Wyoming Stallion Futurity at Sweetwater Downs on Sept. 19.
Jesus Valenzuela rode VVR Corona Cowboy for the first time. Drawn outside in post six, they got away on top. Vying throughout the 300 yards with odds-on favorite Eyesa Special Digger, VVR Corona Cowboy received every call and outfinished that rival by a neck in :15.642, posting a 93 speed index.
Jorge Garfias trains VVR Corona Cowboy for owner Carter Garfias. They unveiled the colt at Wyoming Downs in July, and he ran a good third in a maiden race, losing by just two noses.
Next he finished second in his trial for the Wyoming Downs Futurity and ran sixth in the final before the circuit moved to Sweetwater Downs and the Rock Springs-Wyoming Stallion Futurity.
Mike Lipp bred VVR Corona Cowboy in Wyoming out of Proud Caption, a two-time winner who ran third in the 2009 Diamond Classic Derby. The mare has produced one other starter and winner, stakes-placed CR Proud Prince.
Broken Bones Cattle Company’s homebred Eyesa Special Digger (Eyesa Special Slim-Lil Shameless Angel) finished second under jockey Oscar Cervantes for trainer Jessie Villegas. The gelding has a first, second, and third in four previous starts.
Uriel Dominguez rode Dicey Seduction (Our Dicey FFM-Seduce) to third for owner Calli Vantassell and trainer Uriel Dominguez Sr. Dicey Seduction was unplaced in her first two attempts.
Completing the field were Onemobud (CD Mo Lotta Chalada-Special Kailee), Eyesa Special Ocie (Eyesa Special Slim-Darling Bugs Passem), and Docs Fast Kick (Docs Fast Prize-Kicks And Giggles TB). Sixs CB Maverick was scratched.
