Devil His Due Stakes
YOU BUY I FLY V
by Danny Camp
You Buy I Fly has moved up from the claiming ranks to dominate in stakes company with his third win in a row. All three wins have come with jockey Miguel Perez in the irons.
The gelding scored his first stakes win in the Devil His Due Stakes held at Lone Star Park on Nov. 27, an 870-yard test that carried a $50,000 purse.
Perez and You Buy I Fly stepped away from the 2-post on top. With clear sailing on the inside, they used that position to gain the lead. By the top of the stretch they were a head in front. From there they blew the field away, with a 2-length lead mid way down the lane and 2 1/4-lengths at the wire.
They stopped the clock at :45.721 to earn a 97 speed index.
The gelded son of One Valiant Hero also earned the first place check worth $30,000. That takes his earnings to $105,833 and his race record stands at six wins out of 20 starts. His team includes owner/ trainer Tony Sedillo.
Bred in Oklahoma by Valeriano Racing Stables LLC, the gelding is out of Regal Fly. She earned over $86,000 and has produced ten foals. Regal First Moon is her best product.
Favorite Kool Cartel (Favorite Cartel-Rustys Kool Lady) ran a gritty race to get up for second for owner Enrique Ibarra and trainer Rolando Almanza. Ricardo Garza-Cruz was in the saddle.
The Kings Horse (Class King-Fleeta Dif Tb) made an impressive sprint to the finish in third. He is owned by Bullard Farms and trained by Lewis Jordan. Jerry Yoakum was in charge of the riding.
Followed by Holy Storm (Red Storm Cat-Holy White Socks TB), Ghost Bear (Phantom Menace- Loose Play TB), One Mighty Eagle (One Famous Eagle-Kates Dynasty), Viva Le Don (Rock Solid Jess-Viva Arriba) & X Rated Winner (X Rated Cat TB-Hiclass Rose).
