Jess, is campaigned by Charles and Dixie Patterson and was the fastest qualifier from the Feb. 26 trials. He kept his perfect season record intact with a victory in the $96,850 West Texas Maturity-G3 at Sunland Park on March 20.
Ridden by Sergio Dominguez for trainer Donna McArthur, Mitey Political went 400 yards in :19.264, and his winning margin was a neck from TLC Signature. The sorrel gelding earned a 105 speed index and $45,519 from his third win in three starts this year.
Mitey Political was bred in New Mexico
by Debra Laney, and he was purchased by the Pattersons for $70,000 at the 2017 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. He is out of Mitey Moon, a homebred daughter of Champion First Moonflash, who won the 2013 New Mexico Cup Futurity-RG2. Mitey Political is a half-brother to 2020 New Mexico State Fair Juvenile runner-up Surfz Up.
Raced exclusively in New Mexico, Mitey Political gelding has won seven of 24 starts, and the winner’s share of the purse from his first career stakes score increased his bankroll to $151,359.
Emilio Perez’s TLC Signature (The Louisiana Cartel-Sheza Rusty Lady) was second and earned $17,433 to bring his bankroll to $124,038 from 14 outs. Agustin Silva rode the gelding for trainer Omar Vargas.
Apollitical Papa (Apollitical Jess-Sissys Tres
Girl) ran third and pocketed $10,653 for his owners, Bob and Sissie McClure. Noe Garcia Jr. rode the homebred 5-year-old gelding for trainer Fred Danley.
Gym N Jam (Jess Good Candy-None As Easy), A Dangerous Flash (First Moonflash-Flame N Flash), Mane Street (Favorite Cartel-Enjoy The Walk), Better Version (Favorite Cartel-Make Over), Jessapolliticalgirl (Apollitical Jess-Kirklyns Dynasty) and Elmer (Fdd Dynasty-Treasured Dreams) completed the order of finish. KJ Frankie B was scratched.

sharp break from his rail post helped fastest
qualifier and odds-on favorite Senor Frogs score a 1 1/2-length victory in the 400-yard Wayne Brasher Memorial Bonus Challenge at Rillito Park on March 19.
Prepped by Eloy Navarro for owner Jose Aguilar Mendoza, Senor Frogs stopped the timer in :19.810, and his winning margin was daylight over his closest competitor. Luis Martinez rode the 5-year-old son of the Corona Cartel stallion Coronado Cartel.
Senor Frogs made his local debut with a 3 1/2-length win in the second of two trials on Feb. 26. Campaigned in five states, including California and Oregon, the gelding has won eight of 24 starts, and the $23,925 winner’s share of the $43,500 purse pushed his bankroll to $129,471. He’s won three stakes, including the 2020 Downs Casino Stakes and 2019 Grants Pass Firecracker Futurity.
Senor Frogs was bred in Oregon by Michael
and Shannon McKay. The gelding is out of winner Nellie Soprano. Senor Frogs’ third dam, Your Sofine, produced Your So Awesome, a multiple graded stakes winner from 1998-2000.
Runner-up Wildroses101 (JA Jess Perfect-Weeds In My Roses) pocketed $8,700 for his owner, Ferrari Racing Stables. Joseph Belloc Jr. rode the 4-year-old gelding for trainer Tyler Gibbs. Shez Our Jess (Hez Our Secret-Jess Marcy) ran third, 2 1/4-lengths behind Senor Frogs, and she earned $4,350 for her owner, Angel Valenzuela. Michael Ybarra rode the 4-year-old gray mare for trainer Jim Crotts.
HW One Sweetstreaker (One Sweet Jess- Streakns Easy) finished fourth and was followed by Captain Mazurk (Captain Courage-Napa Valley Girl), Rock Star Dash (First Down Dash- One Famous Rock Star), From Above (Kiddy Up-Celestial Being), and Our Secret Legacy (Hez Our Secret-Legacys A Streakin).

yesa Forrest streaked to the first stakes win of his
career with a strong performance in the $32,000 El Moro de Cumpas Stakes at Rillito on March 5.
Ridden by Elias Gutierrez, Eyesa Forrest took command soon after the start of the 350-yard fixture. The 5-year-old gelding raced away from his rivals
in the lane, opening a 1 1/2-length advantage while in hand. He crossed the wire a measured length in front of runner-up Nolans Dragon, with Jesus Osuna aboard, and it was another 1/2-length back to third- place finisher and odds-on favorite Be Quiet.
In registering his initial stakes victory, Eyesa Forrest stopped the timer in a lively :17.459, just ticks away from the :17.028 track record set by Black Ops in 2017. Eyesa Forrest’s final time earned a speed index of 108 for the win. The three top finishers all earned a speed index over 100 with Nolans Dragon getting a 104 and Be Quiet recording a 101.
Owned by Jason Ramos and rained by Jesus Carrete, Eyesa Forest improved his record to 20-3- 3-2 and the $17,600 winner’s share of the purse increased his bankroll to $75,626. Eyesa Forrest, who finished third in the 2020 Lobo Derby at Albuquerque, was bred in Texas by J Bar 7 Ranch LLC. The sorrel gelding is produced from the Eyesa Special mare Eyesa Darlin.
Nolans Dragon (Zulu Dragon-One Famous Babe), owned and trained by Jim Lewis, proved second best of the day while making his first
start outside of his native New Mexico. Post-time favorite Be Quiet (Kiddy Up-Thinking Out Loud) finished third under jockey Kevin Carbajal for owner Jose Mendoza and trainer Eloy Navarro. Katella Avenue (Foose-Katie Katella), Tres A Jess (One Sweet Jess-Pure Ruby), and Iron Budderfly (First Down Dash-Budderfly Effect) completed the order of finish.
