The petrochemical sector is a major driver of industrial growth. IndianOil is focusing on strengthening its
petrochemicals business by venturing into and expanding downstream polymer units.
The per capita consumption of plastics in India is far below the world average. However in the last decade, the
Indian polyolefin industry has seen double digit growth offering large potential for further growth. Ample
opportunities also exist for export of polyolefin in the Asian region, including China.
Considering this, a world scale Naphtha Cracker Unit along with downstream polymer units have been set up at
       Panipat Refinery.
       The Naphtha Cracker Complex includes:
       Naphtha Cracker Unit (NCU):
lWorld class Naphtha Cracker unit with technology from M/s. ABB Lummus
       lDesign capacity
          857 KTA of Ethylene
          650 KTA of Propylene
       Downstream Polymer Units
       Polypropylene (PP) Unit:
lTwo production lines of 300 KTA each with Spheripol-II technology from Lyondell Basell, Italy
lProduct portfolio includes entire range of Homopolymers, Block copolymers and Random copolymers
       Dedicated HDPE Unit:
lDedicated HDPE plant of 300 KTA using Hostalen slurry process from Lyondell Basell, Germany
lProduct portfolio includes Unimodal as well as Bimodal HDPE grades for various application segments
such as HMHDPE Film, Blow moulding & Pressure pipes
       LLDPE/HDPE Swing Unit:
lLLDPE/HDPE swing plant of 350 KTA capacity based on Sclairtech Solution polymerization technology of
          Nova Chemicals,Canada
lProduct portfolio includes general-purpose LLDPE & HDPE grades, as well as speciality LLDPE grades
using Octaneas co- monomer for niche application segments.
