WHO WERE FRANCIS BRYANS' SIBLINGS?
As was mentioned in Chapter One, Francis Bryan's DNA suggest a strong match with Margaret Peggy Bryan. Given the common surname I would guess that they shared the same father. I had also mentioned that the connection to Francis’ sister Peggy is well documented.
"FAMILY LORE"
There has been some documentation of our family history, which I will call
"Family Lore," from family members that were generations closer to Francis and Phoebe than we are today.
It is said that Francis had a family bible which was destroyed in a fire. A second bible with family documentation was then begun but it only contains information regarding Francis and Phoebe’s children. Excerpts from that bible are in the Appendix.
Larry Wayne Bryan, a Bryan cousin and descendant of Francis and Phoebe, has done extensive research on Francis’ ancestry and descendants. He has compelling evidence that Francis’ father’s name was Thomas Bryan.
Larry has a report from one of our cousins, Georgie Bryan Edwards, who lived in Sparta, North Carolina. Sparta is a small town in the northwestern section of North Carolina, very near to where Francis and Phoebe settled and raised their family on Cherry Lane.
Georgie Bryan Edwards (1924-2002) received the information from Mrs Clyde Bryan Eldridge (1894-1962). Clyde is our second cousin, twice removed, and a third great granddaughter to Francis and Phoebe. Both of her parents were descendants of Francis and Phoebe. So she is a double cousin. Unusual to be female and to be named Clyde, but SHE was!
The following page contains a description of Larry Bryan's communication with Clyde Bryan Eldridge.
