Combined (Semester) Courses
The district is offering courses that are one semester in length (two marking periods). Some courses must be
taken in sets. These pairs are indicated in the catalog.
A student earns 2.5 credits for each “semester” course successfully completed, 5 credits for the
combined courses.
Students should be very careful selecting combined courses, deadlines for course changes and drops
will remain the same as full year courses and if the student drops the first semester course, they
must also drop the second.
Four-Year Schedule Planner
It is also recommended that each student should develop a four-year schedule plan. This written plan will be
helpful in making sure that the student will have room in his or her schedule for the courses needed and wanted
during high school (Grades 9-12). The plan should be retained by the student throughout high school and updated
yearly.
Prerequisite
The word, "Prerequisite”, is used in the Guide to indicate a course or courses which are required unless
otherwise noted, before a student can take that particular course. For example, Theatre I is a pre-requisite for
Theatre II.
Summer Courses
Students are not permitted to take courses in the summer for advanced credit toward graduation unless approved
through the Option II Program. A student may take a MAXIMUM of two (2) courses or ten credits in an
approved summer school program or tutorial.
