FLYING LEAD ORIENTATION TOOL (FLOT)
Fugro-impROV’s Flying Lead Orientation Tool provides
a means to securely mount the company’s Class 1-4
Torque Tool (ImpROViser) within the ROV. This then
allows control over the pitch and roll of the torque tool
and any payload it is latched onto (e.g. HFL’s / EFL’s).
The tool can be configured to be heavy duty or standard. The Tool consists of
an anodised aluminium and stainless steel framework with a dedicated fixed
ROV mounting plate on the rear of the Tool. The fixed mounting plate also
houses a rotary actuator onto which the front of the tool is mounted to. This
section houses a swivel ring proprietary mount for the torque tool allowing ROV mounting holes
a +/- 15 degree roll movement actuated by some integrated cylinders. The
rotary actuator further allows the front of the Tool (and therefore the mounted
torque tool) to pitch up and down by +/- 90 degrees.
Although the Tool is designed for use with the company’s torque tool &
FLOT control system, all functions can be actuated directly from individual
hydraulic supply functions from the ROV if required. The heavy duty FLOT
is rated to handle up to 400kg payload whilst the standard FLOT is rated to
handle up to 250 kg of payload acting on the torque tool nose.
