TORQUE TOOL & FLOT CONTROL SYSTEM

Fugro-impROV’s Torque Tool & FLOT Control system
is an electro-hydraulic valve pack system able to
modulate hydraulic power to the company’s Class 1-4
Torque Tool and Flying Lead Orientation Tool (FLOT).
It is also able to read any measured torque and turns
count data from the Torque Tool and display the output
on a surface laptop supplied with the system.
The Control System valve pack is typically mounted to the ROV and is able
to transmit data topsides to the surface laptop through the ROV umbilical.
The surface laptop is supplied with proprietary user interface software Power / coms connection
allowing easy access to control each hydraulic function and to be able to
monitor feedback from the annular torque cell and the proximity switch
turns count sensor fitted to the Torque Tool.
In operation, a single proportional control valve supplies variable pressure
and flow to the Torque Tool hydraulic motor allowing variable control over
torque generated and socket rotate speeds. A series of 4 solenoid valves
allows control over all other functions on the Torque Tool (e.g. latches) and
FLOT (e.g. pitch up/down). The unit is supplied with a surface interface
which allows setup and verification of the valves when not connected
through the ROV system.
