organizations and how people interact within these

contexts. The resulting body of knowledge, while
informative and important has, for the most part, little

practical application.

Biology

Biology is a pure and applied science. Like other
disciplines in this category (examples, physics,

chemistry, mathematics), it is sometimes referred to as a
“hard” science. It is the study of living organisms, their

functions, how species come into existence, their
interactions with each other and with the natural

environment. Four unifying principles form the
foundation of modern biology: cell theory, evolution
(antithetical to BIBLICAL truth), genetics and

homeostasis (the state of equilibrium or balance
between interdependent elements). 4 Like sociology,

the resulting body of knowledge is informative and
important. Unlike sociology, it has a long history of

practical applications. For example, the field of medicine
is greatly underpinned by the applications of biological

principles.
