Width
Column widths should be adjusted to:
• Ensure that all text is visible (using the widest column text as a guide)
• Maximize the use of horizontal space by reducing extraneous white space (e.g., wrap long column headings to multiple
lines)
The reduction of extraneous white space can be achieved for column headings where the column heading title text
significantly exceeds the width of the widest data in the column by wrapping the column heading title and reducing the
column width (even if it means the title line will be on multiple lines). When multiple lines needs to be displayed due to
wrapping, the overall height of the line should be 12.75 (the standard line height) times the number of lines necessary (e.g.,
looking at the example below, the height of the first title row is 12.75 x 3 = 38.25).
