Figure 10.
The neck muscles provide movement of the neck and head, as well as the lower
jaw.
The muscles of the back carry out movements of the head, neck, shoulder
blades. They can raise and lower their arms. Also, thanks to the spinal muscles, the
vertical position of the body is maintained.
One group of chest muscles is attached to the bones of the shoulder girdle and
arms and participates in their movement. The other is the intercostal muscles, they raise
and lower the ribs with external breathing.
The abdominal muscles form the front and side walls of the abdomen, together
they are called the abdominal press. They were so named because when they are
reduced together, they press on the internal organs located in the abdominal cavity. The
abdominal muscles are necessary for turning the trunk to the sides and tilting. They
participate in respiratory movements, as well as in many other processes of vital
activity. At the same time, the abdominal press performs not only a motor, but also a
protective function.
The abdominal muscles also include the diaphragm, which hermetically divides
the human body cavity into the thoracic and abdominal cavities. The main function of
the diaphragm is to participate in respiratory movements.
