In the depths of the large hemispheres there are clusters of neurons that form the
nuclei of the limbic system, which is the main emotional center of the brain. The nuclei
of the limbic system play an important role in memorizing new concepts, learning.
At the very base of the brain there are limbic nuclei, in which the centers of fear,
rage, and pleasure are found.
The destruction of the nuclei of the limbic system leads to a decrease in
emotionality, lack of anxiety and fear, dementia.
Human activity is largely under the control of the cerebral cortex. Such specific
mental functions as memory, speech, thinking, creative processes, personal qualities
are associated with the large hemispheres of the brain.
