SSOW 010 - Loading Mesh Fencing and Blocks

A safe system of work is a formal procedure which results from systematic examination of a task in
order to identify all the hazards. It defines safe methods to ensure that hazards are eliminated or
risks minimized.

Ensure all the correct appropriate PPE is worn and that both Manual Handling theory and
practical training has been completed before attempting to complete this task.

• The vehicle should be positioned as close to the panels as possible.
• Due to the size of the panel it should be a two person lift wherever possible.
• Consideration should be given for wind conditions before lifting commences.
• The vehicle sack barrow and tail lift must be used for loading the blocks at all times.

Single person lift.

Grab the panel in the middle and Hold panel as close to body as possible and
keeping your back straight, start to lift. slide the panel towards yourself.

Grab the panel from the top and middle Carry panel to the vehicle rest one end on to
keeping as close to your body as possible. the bed of the vehicle and slide on.
