The mission of the Senior Projects is for the
students to research and analyze a social justice
issue from various perspectives: economic, political,
historical, cultural and religious. In addition, they are
to synthesize these findings with their community
service and personal experiences in order to propose
avenues of change to the Carrollton community
through a group paper and presentation. On May 1,
2002, the seniors presented their findings to the
High School. Given the nature of the international
events and tragedies that have taken place this year,
it seemed appropriate and necessary that the Senior
Projects look beyond our immediate environment
and move beyond our own borders. The projects
focused on countries that are struggling with issues
of famine, war, political turmoil, and various human
rights violations. Seniors focused on how these
conditions are affecting the poor women living in
Afghanistan, Cambodia, Guatemala, Haiti, India,
Israel, Kenya, North Korea, Peru, the Philippines and
Uganda.
