The International Baccalaureate first year Visual Arts students modeled clay while looking
at the ear of the person sitting next to them, The message is meant to remind us not to
let Haiti slip from our collective consciousness.

In addition to many other fundraising events, Intermediate
students made yarn dolls, bracelets, necklaces, head bands, hai
bows, etc., to sell to raise funds for the emergency needs of the
Haitian people following the earthquake.

When my teacher gave me an opportunity to create an art piece for Haiti; I took it. I was inspired by a Kreyol prayer
that she shared with us which I handlettered on a plaeemat for the background. I then cut another placemat in half
to represent the earthquake, One side shows happiness and hope for Haiti and the other, death and sorrow. I was
originally going to use a needle with the red yarn as if to sew Haiti back together again, but I decided that Haiti
5Q needed safety and used a safety pin instead. I hope my work of art inspired you and touched you in a special way.
