Clinical neurodiversity: Autism

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which affects how people
communicate and interact with the world. It impacts approximately
      2% of all adults.

Autistic people often have heightened senses,
meaning the world can feel overwhelming.

      Common autism traits include:

      ❖ problems with social interaction

      ❖ unusual interest in objects

      ❖ need for sameness

      ❖ great variation in abilities

❖ repeated actions or body movements

❖ unusual emotional reactions and expressions

❖ under/over reaction to one or more of the five senses:

          sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste
Image courtesy of Twitter, based on the highly
