SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW ENTRANCE TO ASHBOURNE PARK
FOR CONSIDERATION BY APOA AND DEVELOPERS
Thanks to the excellent relationship Pauline Scanlan has with the present owners of Wealden
House (WH), we now have confirmation that contracts are being finalised to sell the entire
site for development by Ashgrove Homes Ltd (AHL).
Tucked away in the current planning application for the construction of 71 flats on the
Wealden House EDF (WH:EDF) site was the following plan which, probably unintentionally,
revealed a more ambitious scheme for an estimated 50 additional dwellings on the Wealden
House, Life Improvement Centre (WH:LIC) site.
------- --- -------- -
---- -----
At this moment AHL's has not applied for permission for the "second phase" although one
has to be anticipated.
If the development of both sites were to go ahead, as outlined, we would have 120 small
"utilitarian" flats, inhabited by an estimated 230 people - 49 being children - with a minimum
of 130 cars. crammed in a density equivalent to an inner-city ghetto - in our backyard.
The traffic flow within the development and onto the A22 would be dangerous and
unacceptably slow, (Please see http://online.flipbuilder.com/Cobasco/rgng/) and the quality
of life we currently enjoy, irreparably damaged.
We believe we must endeavour to preserve, protect and, if possible, enhance our quality of
life both during the construction phase and afterwards.
