Properties of magnets
1-The magnetic force of a magnet is the strongest at its
poles & it decreases towards its middle
The highest density of iron filings is at the 2 poles.
2-A magnet always takes a certain direct when it is
suspended freely influenced by the Earth
(Earth acts as a giant magnet)
Magnetic South Pole (S) =
Geographical north pole of the earth
Magnetic North Pole (N) =
Geographical south pole of the earth
North Pole (N) of freely suspended magnet which always points to
the north geographical direction.
South Pole (S) of freely suspended magnet which always points to
the south geographical direction.
