Application

    • Structure of the compass:

        A magnetic needle (light and small) that can spin freely
        around a fixed axis and is placed in a copper / plastic box.
         To prevent the attraction between the needle and the box which can

                                      affect its movement.
     1- The North Pole of the magnetic needle refers to the north direction

        of the Earth.
     2- The South Pole refers to the south direction of the Earth.

• Importance of the compass:

   Old tool to determine the four main geographical directions.

                                   (E – W – N – S)

               Law of attraction and repulsion

The similar (like) magnetic poles repel each other, but the
  different (unlike) magnetic poles attract to each other.

North repels north  &    North attracts to south

? The magnet can exert pulling or pushing force.
