They have been training under the direction of Paddy Rossbach of the hospital and Estelle Rogers, a Brooklyn YWCA swimming instructor.LIU Has Six All-StarsLong Island University, winner of the ECAC Metro Soccer Conference Championship for the second consecutive year, placed six players on the league%u2019s All-Star Team, the most of any other league member. LIU%u2019s junior center forward Roger Chavez, a5-foot-5 player with high speed, excellent ballhandling skills, and a nose for the goal, was named the %u201cMost Outstanding Player of the Year%u201d in addition to making the All-Star Team. Chavez, with 22 goals and eight assists this season, is the fifth leading collegiate scorer in the United States.Other Blackbird booters selected in the coaches%u2019 ballot for All-Star honors were: junior right-winger Maicol Antelo, freshman midfielder and team captain Raul Perez, junior goalie Ricardo Aguilera, sophomore stopper Vinitus Charley and freshman sweeper Emmett Trinity.Jay Girls Are SecondJohn Jay%u2019s High School%u2019s girls%u2019 cross country team recently placed second in the Brooklyn Cross Country Championship. Aishah Hasan, the team captain, came in second in the individuals. Kathy Ranson, Judy Atkinson, Tamika George, Lisa Adams and Jennifer Lord also won trophies for individual performance. Aishah Hasan, Kathy Ransom and Judy Atkinson qualified to participate in the State Championships.The junior varsity cross country team came in third in the Borough Championship, as did the freshman team. The freshman team was composed of Jennifer Lord, Lisa Adams, Latisha Thomas, Magda Riche and Simone Lyken.
