Greene/Clinton HillBrooklyn Hospital, at 121 DeKalb Avenue has many large Christmas trees adorning the front lawn and two gracing the canopy of the hospital%u2019s main entrance, for an overall decorating effect. Among commercial enterprises, the area%u2019s most noteworthy was Moffatt%u2019s Factory Outlet at the intersection of Fulton St. and Greene Ave., which glowed warmly with strings of multi-colored holiday lights. The windows were filled with lamps, furniture and a jumble of other treasures.Best Of Prospect HeightsThe Best of Prospect Heights honors go to Vanderbilts Delicatessen at 624 Vanderbilt Avenue. Wooden reindeer pranced across the window, bearing loads of gourmet delicacies. Among the greens are baskets with Santa Clauses painted on the sides, filled with more of the goodies Vanderbilt%u2019s specializes in. On the comer of St. Marks Place and Vanderbilt Ave. is a noteworthy residential display of luminary exuberance. A cave of lights over the gates of the building.Best Of Seventh A venueThe Eclipse Studio, right around the corner from Seventh Ave. at 176 Lincoln PI. is filled with stained glass lamps entirely in keeping with the holiday mood.The Park Slope Leaf & Bean at 83 Seventh Ave. is filled with a miniature village of illuminated houses with straw reindeer leaping across the sky. Growing Things, at 81A Seventh Ave., has a window display that stretched out luxuriously into the street, a display of poinsettias and a well-decorated Christmas tree inside the shop becomes a jumble of exotic greens gracing several baskets and an antique v*ooden wheelbarrow outside.Rosalie Burton Realty at 113 Seventh Ave.features some whimsical log reindeer with snowflakes on their antlers and sparkling white lights. The Village Green GardenU U V U U b U U i U 1 I U M A U V V 1 U i v u t j p u t j U Jlwreaths and plants is also an inviting display.But the Best of Seventh Avenue is Cousin John%u2019s Cafe & Bakery at number 70 for the second of two windows. The first one, with a teddy bear, was cute, but the second features the most elaborate gingerbread house, surrounded by evergreen branches. A tree made of cookies ornamented the lawn of the house.Best Of Smith StreetThe Merchant%u2019s Association of Smith Street deserves special praise for the spirited Christmas tree display in the lot on the southeast comer of Smith and Baltic. The tree is decorated with white, flashing lights, red bows, candy canes and a gold star. A garden on the north-west comer of Warren and Smith makes good use of multi-colored lights twined in shrubs.Two private social clubs, the La Gloria at 271 Smith and the Barceloneta at 270 Smith are among the most noteworthy holiday displays on the street. The La Gloria is especially worthy of mention, with statues of American Indians bearing gifts of wampum.But the window that receives honors as Best of Smith Street is in the Red Rose Restaurant at 315 Smith. The red curtains of the Red Rose are pulled aside to show a Christmas tree decorated with a myriad of little Santa Clauses and lots of white lights.Best Of Windsor TerraceThe residents of Windsor Terrace deserve special mention in this chronicle. Each residential display in this neighborhood seems more gorgeous than the last. One house was completely adorned in those larger Christmas lights, all in green.In the commercial arena, at 222 Prospect Park West, Bob%u2019s Housewares Barn is resplendent with lights and the shadowy gleams of Bob%u2019s wares in the large picture windows. But the Best of Windsor Terrace has to be Peggy%u2019s Seafood Restaurant at 210 Prospect Park West. The multitude of white lights lining the windows and reaching into the restaurant is especially attractive, and so too the large, shimmering Christmas tree visible between the red curtains.Stanley s Liquor Store (above) at 189 Seventh Avenue, grabbed the eye of many a strolleralong the avenue this Christm as season with a display that is a study in red, blue, green andgold foil, with large foil stars rotating above. Not only can%u2019t you miss it, but the effect istotally luxurious. Below, the window o f Summa Gallery on Montague Street was anotherholiday attraction for strollers and w as judged the %u2018%u2018Best of Brooklyn Heights\season.
