PEOPLE OF YASH
In April 2021, during the peak of the second
wave of COVID, Yogita Wasnik’s life was Yogita's Story[
suddenly turned upside down. In a matter WIFE TO

the family, her husband Amol, and

way to provide for herself and her family. Warrior
But Yogita had very little time to grieve her
loss as she needed to step up and find a
This is her story of bravery, resilience,
        courage, and determination.
I met Amol for the first time when I went to stay with my brother in Nagpur. Since Amol and my brother were very
close and were always hanging out with each other, I ended up spending a lot of time with Amol’s family as well.
One day Amol’s mom approached me and asked if I would marry Amol. I was taken aback by the sudden request. But
though Amol was a great guy, I qualso realized that there was a caste difference. A lot of issues would come up in our
lives if we got married and I didn’t want to put my family, Amol or his family through that. So, I told his mom that I couldn’t
marry Amol. A year later however, in 2009, Amol came home and in front of my parents and entire family,
declared his love for me while asking for my hand in marriage.

To say I was shocked at his proposal is an
        understatement. But my parent’s acceptance
and willingness to put caste aside, left no doubt
in my mind that this was the man I wanted to
have as my partner for the rest of my life. With
their approval and blessings, we had a small,
simple wedding ceremony at the registrar’s
office where a few extremely close friends and
family joined to bear witness to our union and
celebrate our love. Post-marriage, we shifted to
Pune, where with Amol’s motivation, I continued
and completed my college education. Life was
certainly beautiful, and I was very happy.
Fast forward a few years to 2017. Amol came
home one day and told me that he got into a
company called YASH Technologies as a UI
lead. It was a new opportunity of growth for him
and he was excited and nervous, but his
journey and experience with YASH assured
that he made the right decision.
Over the years he would always talk fondly
about YASH. From the work culture and
work-life balance to his supportive colleagues
and management and from recognition and
rewards to his job and role; he loved it all. Living
                                  10 10
close to work just became an added bonus.
I never once thought that this beautiful life of
ours would be shattered so horribly, but in April
        of 2021 everything changed.
