preference to the members of the Association who co-operated
with us. I would be very willing to do it, and want to do it.
Mu. 1' huxley : 1 hen if the Secretary of this Association
should appear before the Chuck Association with the proposition
to place the line on a restricted selling price basis, which would
mean the withholding of a little profit, you would look with favor
                     on such proposition ?
Mu. B a iley : Personally I would, but I can make no promise
                     as to the Association.
                          M r. F e r n l e y : We understand that, and also understand
that they respect your views very largely. (Applause).
                          P r e s id e n t S t r o n g : I would like to say for the benefit of
of our own Association that I personally know that Mr. Bailey
has been one of our best friends (applause), almost our only
friend for a part of the time in the chuck business.

                          M r. B aii.e y : I will say further that I have used what little
influence I have had for the last ten or twelve years to bring
something of this kind about for our mutual benefit, and I have
always held that we should sell all our product, if possible,
through the trade. I do not want to sell direct. I would rather
for you gentlemen to have the bother of it than for me to do it.
I would rather give you a profit for doing it.

                          P r e s i d e n t S t r o n g : I saw Mr. M ojer come in a few minutes
ago. He is a pretty good talker, and we would like to hear
                     from him.
                           M r. M o y e r : Mr. President and Gentlemen: I thank you
very much for the honor in thus calling upon me on this occasion.
I don’t know that I have anything to apologize for in the first
place. The gentleman who preceded me, I think, apologized.
Some trade practices have crept into his business, but we have
nothing of that kind. I think we are on the very best terms with
all of you. If any gentleman in the audience wants to say to the
contrary I would like for him to stand up. (Applause).
Our company has stood on record for some years past as
trying to stand by the middle man, the dealer or jobber, as you
want to call him, and I think that we have succeeded in establish
ing ourselves in the confidence of every one of you.
