at a very satisfactory agreement between this Association ancl
                      lhat of the dealers.
“\our committee would like this Convention to authorize
its continuance for the purpose of finishing the job. We are
well started on it. We propose to have a meeting at a very early
date— probably next week. We should like the Convention to
authorize the continuance of that committee.
“We have taken the liberty of inviting up here the committee
from the Machine Tool Dealers’ Association, and Mr. Strong,
after you pass the resolution, wants the privilege of making a few
                      remarks.”
Then Mr. Johnson asked “About how long a time do you
want, and how are you going to notifv us of what takes place
                      through the mail ?”
Mr. Geier said "The plan is this. We are going to protect
this Association, and when your committee, after meeting the
other gentlemen, prepare what they consider a fair contract for
the members of this Association to sign, then it will be submitted
to you individually, so that you can have plenty of time to read it.
over and think it over and see whether you can accept it. After
acceptance by your committee, it will be submitted to you individ
ually, and if you find the contract all right we will ask you to!
say so,— that this contract is acceptable to you, and in a short
time we can get a definite expression from each member after
he has given careful consideration to the results of the work of
your Committee. I simply ask you to continue us until we finish
                      the job.”

                           M r. P r e n t i s s : I do not understand that the National Ma
chine Tool Builders’ Association have been committed to this
advance. Their committee agreed to recommend it, and have
recommended it. They have not taken any action, and it seems to
me we should bring to their attention what we would like to have
them do. W e want the action, when taken, to be in our favor.
We do not want adverse action, because we would be in a worse
                      position than when we started.
I think fifteen per cent is wrong. Your committee did not
ask for that, and you are turning down your committee if you
