l-irst Annual Convention

what the libbers' Association could not tret, and what our Asso
ciation could not .tr^t. that the combined Associations might get.
                     M r. B r a d l e y : I understand the effect of this resolution is
simply to put all the dealers on an equal basis when they go out
to sell, and securing the business resolves itself down to salesman
                ship and delivery.

P resident S trong : That seems to he a very clear statement
                of it.
                     M r. S c o t t: If I am in order. I will second that motion.
The resolution is read and unanimously adopted. (Applause.)

                     M r. H o e r x e l : I would like to have an expression from the
different members on the lines of goods to which that will apply.
                     P resident S t ro n g: Y ou have heard the suggestion Mr.
Hoernel makes. I do not believe it would be profitable or possible
to go into that subject deeply. It might be well to suggest two or
three items which the Secretary shall take up at his earliest con
                venience.
                      M r. Y o s t : Twist drills and Cap screws.
                      M r. B o n d: And shafting.

                      M r. M cIn tosh : Referring to twist drills: O f the four
large manufacturers, if you people who are handling Morse drills
will get Mr. Cushman into line. I will get the other three.
P resident S t ro n g: Mr. McIntosh is very sure of that. We
do not handle any goods made by the other three, but I will reverse
that proposition ; if he will get Cushman into line I will get the
                other three into line.
                      Mr. S i're lin g e r: I think one feature should he considered
in that connection—that most of us who handle twist drills have
contracts or arrangements extending for the year. We can’t hope
for any immediate results, hut if it could Ire taken up and arranged
for. some of the members might hope for immediate results. No
arrangement runs longer than next year.

President Strong: In order that there may not he a false
impression, I believe Mr. Cushman is nearer the point of meeting
the wishes of his people than ever before. I believe he is more
inclined to listen : and not alone Mr. Cushman, hut his directors.
