EAD col lects 2,000 tonnes of recyc lable bottles

ABU DHABI: The Envir on ment Agency in Abu Dhabi (EAD) has recovered over 2,000
tonnes of recyc lable plastic botles since launch ing its Botle Recov ery Sys tem in 2023.
In col lab or a tion with “Sparklo,” a clean tech no logy com pany, EAD col lec ted more than 23
mil lion recyc lable botles in 2024.
As part of its part ner ship with retail sec tors, waste col lec tion entit ies, and clean tech no -
logy pro viders, EAD worked with Sparklo to deploy over 100 Spark lo mat botle recov ery
machines across the emir ate.
These machines were installed at retail out lets of ADNOC, Lulu, and Car re four, res ult ing in
the col lec tion of approx im ately 23 mil lion recyc lable items in 2024, includ ing 544,000
kilo grammes of plastic and 8,000 kilo grammes of alu minum.
This ini ti at ive con trib uted to redu cing over 3.5 mil lion kilo grammes of CO sions in
2024, sup port ing Abu Dhabi’s goal of cut ing car bon emis sions by 22% by 2027.

tegic invest ment that rein forces envir on mental respons ib il ity. By sup port ing cir cu lar eco -
nomy prin ciples, we aim to strengthen Abu
Dhabi’s lead er ship in the global shit toward a sus tain able future.”
