What is Fat
Just to remind you, there are 9 Calories in every gram of fat.
Consumption of dietary fat is important for regular hormonal
function, especially testosterone production. If you drop very low with your
fat intake one of the most obvious change you may notice is a decrease in
sex drive. Fat should never be eliminated from a diet.
Dietary fat has six major roles:
• It provides an energy source (in fact, it’s the most energy dense
macronutrient)
• It helps manufacture and balance hormones
• It forms our cell membranes
• It forms our brains and nervous systems
• It helps transport the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K
• It provides two essential fatty acids that the body can’t make:
linoleic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid), and alpha-linolenic acid (an
omega-3 fatty acid).
