endorsed by the most respected medical organizations in the world
for their ability to help reduce the risk of nutrient deficiency.
Excessive vitamin supplementation isn’t necessary. However,
having a daily multi very well might be.
5. Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs)- Try adding BCAAs into
your workout drink. During periods of lower calorie intake (fasting
or long periods of no protein), try adding a BCAA supplement every
2-4 hours during the day. BCAAs are arguably necessary for fasted
training.
Let me take a moment to briefly explain BCAAs:
• Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are found in proteins.
• There are 3 BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine, and valine.
• They are essential to our body for many reasons, but in this
context for building muscle.
• They can be bought as a supplement separate from protein, are
sometimes more convenient to consume than protein, and
consumed at the right times they enable protein synthesis and
energy production—BCAAs are important to many metabolic
processes.
BCAAs should not be used in place of protein (whether food or
supplemental protein) as they haven’t been shown to cause protein synthesis
by themselves as effectively as they do as a complement to other proteins.
They are mostly only helpful at muscle sparing when fasting or long bouts
between meals. Let’s take an even deeper look at supplements.
