Crazy Victorian Silk Signed and Dated Dated February 2, 1885. eBay purchase 2013. 74½"x77" Fabric: Silk. Bat-
ting: None. Backing: No separate backing; stitched onto foundation pieces. Edge: Basted front to foundation.
Piecing: By hand. Quilting: Embroidered extensively. Condition: Good; six patches in the outer border have
splits. Comment: The quilt is signed in embroidery "Alice C. Street" and "February 2, 1885." Two rows of
swags just inside the border are heavily embroidered with birds. Other embroidery includes a boy, bugs, a
chair, a bedstead, and abstract exercises in fancy stitchery. Net should be placed over the splits and a back
provided to stabilize the quilt.
